Ian A. Belton and Daina Mattis joined the Rathaus cofounders, Maximilian Bauer and Elisabeth Roth, to mine how this space will function, interrogating and exploring its potentital and limitations. What is the goal and purpose of an art house in a small rural village? How do artists benefit? How will the Rathaus interact with local and global communities?

Ian A. Belton
Native New Yorker Ian Belton is an award-winning theater director, filmmaker, teacher, dramaturge, writer and producer as well as a manny by special request. He is the recipient of a Bachelor's degree from Skidmore College, a Masters of Philosophy from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland; the Andrew W. Mellon Directing Fellowship from the Juilliard School; the Richard E. Sherwood Award from the Mark Taper Forum; the Sir John Gielgud Fellowship from the SDCF as well as the Career Development Program for Directors from the National Endowment for the Arts in collaboration with Theatre Communications Group. Ian is the director of several short films including X-TINA, GLENGARRY GLEN GIRL SCOUT and SIX SHORT FILMS FOR THE HOUSE OF ATREUS as part of a large scale video Installation for JoAnne Akalaitis at the Court Theatre in Chicago and then Theatre for a New Audience in NYC. For over 10 years he has been developing films with acclaimed acting coach Greta Kaufman including MARIE ANTOINETTE, LOST IN TRANSLATION, DREAM BROTHER, among many others. Currently Ian is editing ONCE DE SEPTEMBRE, his documentary based on his experience being a 9/11 first responder. He is also in the process of producing his original cinematic adaptation of OPERATION BABYLON, chronicling the illegal mass migration of Iraqi Jews from the Middle Eastern pro-Nazi government.
